This position will focus on nutrition support and malnutrition and the treatment of complex medical conditions including advancement skills such as indirect calorimetry, bedside ultrasound for muscle assessment, and Nasal enteric tube placement if interested. Implements, monitors, and maintains parenteral and enteral Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) in patients that cannot meet their nutritional requirements by oral intake. Applies medical nutrition therapy standards of care to incorporate the nutrition care process: nutrition assessment/re-assessment, nutrition diagnosis, nutrition intervention (food and/or nutrient delivery, nutrition education, nutrition counseling and coordination of nutrition care) and nutrition monitoring/evaluation. This includes advanced/specialized nutrition care for high acuity/medically complex patients. Works collaboratively with colleagues throughout the enterprise to develop MNT practice guidelines and/or protocols, curriculum and nutrition education materials. Precepts dietetic interns; mentors and trains new staff (clinic and hospitals). Collaborates with dietetic technicians and administrative support staff. Works collaboratively with providers and other allied health care staff to develop and deliver programs and services that promote both therapeutic and wellness initiatives. Research best practice ensuring effective interventions and measures outcomes of interventions. Demonstrates effective public speaking/presentation skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Clinical Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field.
  • Completion of Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited internship.
  • Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) credential required within one year of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree in nutrition or related field is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in clinical, hospital-based nutrition support.
  • Interest in advancement skills such as indirect calorimetry, bedside ultrasound for muscle assessment, and Nasal enteric tube placement.
