About The Position

This is a para-professional PART-TIME contractual position (25 hours per week, Monday through Friday) whereby the incumbent will actively work within the Community at one or more senior congregate dining programs in the Prince George’s County Area. The Nutrition Site Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the safe operations of the Congregate meals ensuring the food safety regulations and program policies and procedures are followed during the core service hours of 9 am to 2 pm. Frequent and regular communication with the Nutrition Program Manager and other Program Staff will be expected, as well as maintaining daily records, preparing accurate weekly meal reports and ensuring the client meal donations are recorded and deposited at the banking institution on a daily basis. This part-time position requires within 6 months of employment, the successful completion of the Certified Food Service License through the local County Health Department or the Serve-Safe Certification and maintain renewal of such certification every three years. The Nutrition Site Coordinator will also be responsible for safely serving meals to eligible program participants, support the partnership with the senior center staff, assist with programs & activities as necessary, assist with the recruitment and training of volunteers, assist with registering program participants annually and for all departmental events/activities, actively participate in all special events and monthly trainings, establish creative ideas in an effort to increase program participation and provide additional support with data collection, the distribution of annual satisfaction surveys, and contacting clients and assisting with other administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Completion of the tenth (10th) school grade
  • Basic Math/Arithmetic
  • Basic computer skills (ability to create and send emails)
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to drive to various nutrition site within the community
  • Ability to make daily bank deposits at banking institution
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Experience in the Food Service Industry
  • Ability to utilize the TEAMS platform for virtual meetings
  • Experience working with Older Adults

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, hospitable and sanitary environment for program clients to consume their meals while at the Nutrition Sites.
  • Maintain accurate records and weekly reports of meals served at the Nutrition Site and make daily bank deposits and submit completed reports to the administrative office on a weekly basis, as required.
  • Email accurate weekly meal orders in a timely manner and maintain reservation list of participants.
  • Safely receive and hot hold all food items at required temperatures and safely serve meals to program clients at lunchtime.
  • Regularly and routinely communicate with partner agencies (Senior Center Staff) to share and plan resourceful and meaningful programs and support special events and coordinate special meals for such events.
  • Ensure the annual completion of client registration, special event, new client registration forms and submit to the administrative office by designated deadline.
  • Assist with the recruitment, training and provide guidance to nutrition program volunteers, senior aides and summer youth students and verify their timesheets and hours and submit as needed.
  • Successfully pass and obtain Food Service Manager Certification within 6 months of employment and renew every 3 years as required.
  • Attend, support, and assist with the coordination of program activities, special events or departmental events.
  • Attend professional development training programs, monthly staff meetings, departmental meetings/workshops and other team building activities routinely and consistently.
  • Assist with the distribution of the Maryland Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program at designated Nutrition Sites.
  • When requested, support the Nutrition Program operations by covering various nutrition sites in the event of staff emergencies and staff shortages.
  • Follow Nutrition Program policies and procedures and maintain regular communication with Program Manager and Nutrition Office Staff.
