About The Position

This is a training and relief position that will require daily travel to various Englewood schools kitchens as well as the Nutrition Services admin office, with the potential of traveling to multiple schools in the same shift. This person will be responsible for training all new and existing Nutrition Services staff and substitutes on food preparation and production, food safety and sanitation, point of sale systems, forecasting and ordering food, and all other essential duties of a kitchen manager or associate. This position will also provide staff relief when needed and be responsible for preparing and serving a full range of food for school meals under minimal to no direct supervision when necessary during the scheduled kitchen time.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or completion of G.E.D.
  • Three years previous institutional food service experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in ordering and inventory control required
  • Valid Colorado driver's license
  • ServSafe certification completed within 3 months of hire
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in response to change.
  • Possesses computer and technology skills.
  • Effectively works with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Collaborates well with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Capable of understanding and following both complex oral and written instructions.
  • Able to perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
  • Communicates effectively with the School District community.
  • Skilled in analysis, instruction, negotiation, coordination, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal interactions.
  • Proficient in comparing, computing, synthesizing, and evaluating information.
  • Meets attendance standards and works the necessary hours to fulfill essential responsibilities.

  • Adheres to federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Frequent lifting 5 (five) to 35 (thirty-five) pounds.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 75 (seventy-five) pounds, with assistance.
  • Frequent bending, walking, standing, reaching, and hand and arm movements
  • Occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Use hands to grasp, and fine manipulation.
  • Eye/hand coordination (e.g., typing, ten key).
  • Concentrated reading/writing/mathematics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide staff relief in kitchens during staff call outs, planned PTO, FMLA absences, or other instances determined by the Director of Nutrition.
  • Responsible for training all new staff on standard operating procedures, including but not limited to point-of-sale operations, back of house operations, food preparation and production, safety and sanitation, ordering and forecasting, and any other areas as determined by the department and Director of Nutrition.
  • Travel to various Englewood Schools sites as needed, including any Englewood Schools kitchen and the Nutrition office with the potential of traveling to multiple sites in the same shift to help support nutrition services teams.
  • Assist with current employee training as needed, on Federal and State Regulations and requirements, and any department Standard Operating Procedures and policies.
  • Ensure that employees receive the necessary information regarding new and updated material, SOP's, rules, regulations and best practices.
  • Comply with all Federal and State Food and Nutrition and Health Department standards, all safety procedures, departmental policies and procedures and all applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Deliver quality, accurate, constructive, corrective, specific and timely feedback to employees during training that encourages them to perform at their highest level.
  • Serve as leader by supporting and actively participating in professional development for staff.
  • Display exceptional customer service skills.
  • Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
  • Occasional evening hours required to support community events, such as Wellness and STEAM nights, including operating and assisting with the smoothie bike station.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
