About The Position

The Nutrition Services Manager is responsible for the Nutrition Services Department. This role involves assessing patients' and clients' nutritional and health needs, counseling them on nutrition issues and healthy eating habits, and promoting better health by educating groups about diet, nutrition, and the relationship between good eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases. The manager will also create educational materials about healthy food choices, stay updated on the latest food and nutritional science research, and document patients' progress.

Requirements

  • Dietetic Internship Required
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Current Iowa License
  • Registered Dietitian or Registration Eligible
  • Ability to communicate in spoken and written English, as well as ability to read and comprehend English required.
  • Computer skills for annual education, benefits enrollment, payroll viewing and email communication.
  • Demonstrated the ability to competently care for patients of all ages to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and adult.
  • Must have knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patients in this age range, able to assess data and interpret appropriate information relating to their age-specific needs.
  • Satisfactorily qualifies for the position through an Iowa Criminal History/Dependent Adult Abuse check within the limits of applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Develop annual department budget.
  • Involvement in department personnel operations (scheduling, rounding, hiring, etc).
  • Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy.
  • Develop programs and counsel the public on topics related to food, nutrition, weight management and wellness.
  • Provide consulting dietitian services to other health care facilities.
  • Cooperate with co-workers to coordinate discharge planning, Cardiac Rehab nutrition education, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Promote good intra and inter hospital communications and relationships at all times.
  • Assure patient information is treated as confidential information.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures regarding the HIPAA Guidelines.
  • Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings.
  • Attend Departmental meetings as required.
  • Maintain established departmental procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, environmental and infection control standards, and hospital policies including compliance policies.
