About The Position

This position is for a Nutrition Services Associate working 4.5 hours per day during school day hours. The effective date of employment is the beginning of the 2026-27 school year. The role involves complying with food service manager's instructions on food production, preparation, service, and clean-up. It also includes accounting for meals, adhering to safety standards in food handling and storage, and working with computerized point of sale equipment. The associate will cooperate with other employees, attend job-related training, and interact positively with students. Other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Services Manager.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be a high school graduate or hold GED.
  • Basic arithmetic, reading, and writing skills.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds, stand on a hard surface for 3-6 hours, bending twisting, repetitive motions.
  • Must complete Serve Safe course and pass exam with 70% accuracy or higher within 1 year of hire date.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to complete job duties within the contracted hours.
  • Must be able to work independently and manage their time efficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in institutional food service operations and/or school foodservice helpful.
  • Previous knowledge of point of sale experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with food service manager's instruction on production, preparation, and service of food.
  • Comply with department standards to account for meals (reimbursement and ala carte sales).
  • Comply with food service manager's instruction on clean-up of kitchen, serving area, cafeteria and dishroom.
  • Comply with standards of safety in handling, preparation, storing and serving food.
  • Work on computerized point of sale equipment to process students through breakfast and lunch lines.
  • Work efficiently and cooperate with other employees.
  • Attend job-related training classes and workshops.
  • Interact with students in a positive and professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
