About The Position

The Nutrition Service Clerk helps prepare therapeutic and modified diets for patients and creates meals for employees, visitors, and special functions. The role supports patient nutrition services by handling menus and diet orders, gathering dietary preferences and nutritional history, documenting diet changes and nourishment orders, and helping ensure meals are accurate and delivered on schedule. The clerk also performs cleaning duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Possess a food handler's permit if mandated by state or county regulations.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience as a Diet Clerk or Nutrition Services Clerk in an acute care facility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Distribute and collect menus, assist patients with diet orders, and process menus.
• Update patient kardex records to include diet changes and document ordered nourishments.
• Visit patients to gather food preferences and allergy information and document nutritional history.
• Complete production sheets and document special food requests.
• Check patient tray lines to ensure meals match the prescribed diet and patient requests and are properly garnished.
• Prepare and check early trays and ensure food carts leave the kitchen at scheduled times.
• Perform cleaning duties.
