The Nutrition Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all programs and services within the Nutrition Program. This includes grant writing, ensuring timely submission of state reports, and proper enrollment and recording of program participants in the consumer database. The role involves accurately processing referrals for meal services, conducting nutrition assessments, and implementing Federal, State, and local policies and procedures for the Nutrition program. The coordinator develops and recommends nutrition program policies and procedures to the Supervisor, communicates regularly with the Supervisor regarding unit issues/concerns, and assists the Supervisor in overseeing day-to-day nutrition operations. This includes providing guidance and leadership to meal site managers, training staff, coordinating work assignments, scheduling, monitoring performance, approving time-off, and payroll entry. The position also assists in orientation and training functions, identifies ongoing training needs for all staff, and provides feedback to the supervisor. Close collaboration with meal site managers is essential for daily operation workflow, and communication with the Supervisor is key for problem-solving related to quality control and program concerns. The role coordinates services and scheduling of Nutrition Program staff, including site managers and volunteers. Responsibilities include using computerized database and spreadsheet programs for monthly reports, ensuring inventory and ordering of supplies, overseeing meal delivery schedules (and filling in as needed), and ensuring dining sites and volunteer drivers have necessary supplies. The coordinator may operate dining sites by filling in for absent Dining Site Managers and must ensure food safety standards are maintained according to local, state, and federal codes. Additionally, the role coordinates health/wellness and nutrition education or recreation programs/activities for dining sites and home-delivered meal participants, assists with developing meeting agendas for Program staff and Committees, and aids in the recruitment and training of Nutrition Program staff and volunteers. Attendance at required meetings/training and regular attendance and punctuality are expected. Other related duties as required or assigned.
