The Nutrition Education Coordinator will be a key member of the Children’s Nutrition Connection (CNC) team, specifically assigned to the CFM Nutrition Education team. This role will focus on the Cooking with Kids and Cooking with Childhood Heroes programs. These programs specifically support Child Care Centers under CFM’s sponsorship of the Children’s Nutrition Program (CCFP). These centers are located in the 5 counties that make up Tampa Bay. The primary objective of the Nutrition Education Coordinator is to provide hands on training to sponsored centers and menu reviews to insure compliant food service. Using the USDA Dozen Ways to Be Healthy and My Plate curriculum, the Nutrition Education Coordinator engages staff involved in the CCFP and children in their care in interactive Cooking with Kids food experiences and education sessions. Key responsibilities include focusing on sponsored CCFP sites with the greatest need for training and support, providing Menu reviews and modifications within the meal pattern, scaffolding the Cooking with kids classes so that staff members can learn to provide the lessons ongoing. The Coordinator will work closely with the Nutrition Education, Outreach, and Monitoring Manager and the Technical Assistance and Monitoring team to develop and grow the CCFP program and identify training opportunities to improve the quality and compliance of the program. Other duties include recruiting centers for the Child Care Food Program, evaluating program success, and working with community partners to expand food access in at-risk neighborhoods through the CCFP. This role will involve active participation in community recruitment events to represent Cornerstone’s food access and nutrition education initiatives, particularly in food desert areas where access to healthy food and education may be limited. The Nutrition Education Coordinator will serve as an integral part of a cohesive Children’s Nutrition Connection (CNC) team that proactively supports all aspects of Nutrition Education Programming. This role involves coordinating and scheduling all Nutrition Education Programming at Cornerstone, supervising a team of volunteer educators and interns, and assisting with program development and implementation within budget constraints. Responsibilities include curating culturally receptive nutrition materials, supporting the Child Care Food Program (CCFP), evaluating program outcomes, collaborating with community partners, and participating in community events to promote the CCFP. This role emphasizes targeting at-risk communities and food desert neighborhoods within Cornerstone’s CCFP sponsorship area, where access to nutrition food and education may be limited.
