About The Position

The Nutrition Assistant I position is located at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado, a Level I Trauma Center. St. Anthony Hospital is a state-of-the-art medical campus, home to Flight For Life Colorado, and provides a full range of medical specialties and healthcare services. The hospital has received numerous awards, certifications, and accreditations, including a Magnet designation in 2023. This role is part of a fast-paced, supportive, and team-oriented environment. The Nutrition Assistant I participates in and supports all aspects of healthcare foodservice operations, working with facility staff to provide optimal nutritional care and demonstrating excellent customer service to patients, guests, and staff.

Requirements

  • One year of food service experience required
  • If a Food Handlers Permit is a requirement by your state, county or local health code, it must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma preferred
  • Cafe experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follows healthcare foodservice industry standards, regulations, guidelines and procedures including monitoring and maintaining food temperatures during cooking, holding, and storage processes.
  • Avoids cross-contamination of foods and adheres to personal hygiene requirements.
  • Maintains proper labeling of food products and ensures storage of food equipment, and machinery per regulations & facility guidelines.
  • Prepares and serves food within guidelines of menu & dietary requirements using required kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Maintains knowledge of recipe ingredients to respond to food allergy questions or requests.
  • Follows organizational standards and guidelines for a high quality patient and customer experience.
  • Ensures proper meal portioning and an aesthetically pleasing presentation.
  • May be responsible for cashiering.
  • May be responsible for serving in the retail area.
  • May be responsible for assembling, delivering and retrieving patient trays.
  • May be responsible for performing cold food prep.
  • May be responsible for performing utility assignments (e.g., dishwashing, washing pots & pans, maintaining equipment).
  • May be responsible for performing catering functions and or delivering/picking up catered food.
  • May be responsible for supporting inventory maintenance duties.
  • May be responsible for performing general cleaning of equipment and work areas (e.g., mopping, sweeping, emptying trash cans, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned by leader.
