About The Position

This position serves a dual role as a Nutrition Aide and an Office Aide. As a Nutrition Aide, the primary responsibilities include serving food items to students and maintaining sanitary conditions in the food service facilities. As an Office Aide, the role involves maintaining office records, collecting funds, entering purchase orders, and performing other clerical functions. Additionally, the Office Aide may be called upon to provide instructional services to assigned students, supervise students during non-instructional times (e.g., between classes, at the playground), assist in re-teaching, and support various school activities. The position requires the ability to work independently under guidance and to perform other job-related duties as assigned, including substituting for absent staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a high school or a GED program desired.
  • Possess basic record keeping skills in counting students accepting lunch.
  • Ability to follow guidance of the teacher and administrators.
  • Attention to detail in completing financial records.
  • Ability to give and receive clear directions in English.
  • Be able to lift and carry up to twenty pounds twenty feet.
  • Ability to stand for at least an hour.
  • Type and use a computer for spreadsheet and word processing.
  • Able to sit or walk for extended time.
  • Demonstrate appropriate etiquette in dealing with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to give and receive clear directions in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Serve food items for consumption by students.
  • Maintain facilities in a sanitary condition.
  • Maintain records in office.
  • Collect funds.
  • Enter purchase orders.
  • Perform other clerical functions.
  • Provide instructional services to assigned students.
  • Supervise students between classes, at playground, and other non-instructional actions at the school.
  • Assist in re-teaching as needed.
  • Assist in all actions of the school.
  • Work independently under the guidance of staff.
  • Communicate directions to students and others.
  • Record lunch counts, food service inventory, and other clerical functions.
  • Assist students in the development of learning skills.
  • Review and become familiar with textbooks and materials used by students.
  • Assist in academic activities with selected students either one-on-one or in small groups.
  • Observe and assess students’ needs and record relevant data to assess progress.
  • Develop tutorial strategies with the goal of bringing children to or above their expected academic grade level.
  • Comply with the employee handbook and the duties assigned.
  • Maintain accurate school lunch attendance and other records.
  • Provide a safe environment.
  • Report any concerns to the Principal/Superintendent.
  • Treat all parents, students and staff in a considerate and respectful manner.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including acting as a substitute for absent staff.
