About The Position

The Nursing Unit Secretary will serve as the central focus of communication for the Metabolic Unit 1G. This role coordinates the clerical functions of the unit, assisting with charting, admissions, and discharges. The secretary is responsible for maintaining organization within the Nurse's station to promote an orderly workflow, receiving, sorting, and organizing all interdepartmental communications, and scheduling/coordinating special patient appointments with other departments as directed by Health Care Team Members. Additionally, the secretary will answer call bells and assist as appropriate, handle a high volume of phone calls, and welcome and assist all visitors to the unit.

Requirements

Work requires the ability to read and transcribe Physician orders.
Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills essential.
Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with a diverse group of Hospital personnel, patients and visitors.
Good communication/phone skills required.

Responsibilities
