Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Ongoing current RN registration; BLS required at hire until ACLS obtained if applicable. BLS renewal not required once ACLS is obtained.
  • Standing and walking most of the day, lifting, moving patients and equipment.
  • Works in a clean, well- lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards. Participation in tasks that include an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood and body substances or a potential for a splash or spill of these substances.
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 10 lbs.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing/Nursing Administration preferred or commitment to attain degree within 5 years.
  • Five years of clinical experience including two years in area of specialization; one year in nursing leadership position preferred.
  • Any certifications required in specific clinical area(s) of responsibility, i.e.; ACLS, PALS, NALS, TNCC; (refer to the RN Grid).
  • Specialty board certification preferred: OCN, CEN, CCRN, etc.
  • May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • The Nursing Director has overall responsibility 24/7 for planning and coordinating the clinical and staffing aspects for the assigned patient care area to assure quality patient care.
  • The Nursing Director is an integral part of the Nursing Management team and assists with establishing the goals/philosophy/standards of the department.
  • The Nursing Director collaborates with physicians and Department Heads to assure that patient care needs as related to other departments/disciplines are met.
