Nursing Unit Aide/Nursing Assistant 1-2 (Nights)
About The Position
Central Louisiana State Hospital (CLSH) in Pineville, Louisiana, is seeking applicants for a Nursing Unit Aide / Nursing Assistant position on the Night Shift. This role is crucial in maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients with mental illness and/or substance abuse issues. The position involves performing routine nursing duties, assisting with patient care, and contributing to the overall mission of providing quality, person-centered care focused on recovery and resiliency. Requirements
- No experience or training required.
- Positions at facilities receiving certain Medicaid or Medicare funds require that applicants possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.

Responsibilities
- Maintains accountability of patients and awareness of patients’ whereabouts at all times, reporting and documenting appropriately during assigned 12-hour shift.
- Assists in management of aggressive behavior, utilizing therapeutic intervention techniques.
- Utilizes safety interventions to apply physical restraints.
- Observes, provides care, reports and documents patients’ special precautions according to hospital policy.
- Interacts with patients as a therapeutic function.
- Observes and reports condition of patients to professional staff.
- Conducts and facilitates groups in therapeutic activities such as unit meetings and work or activity therapies.
- Supervises patients engaged in planned daily activities.
- Communicates pertinent information regarding patients, employees, visitors, unit personnel, etc. to supervisors or other authorized persons in accordance with policy.
- Participates in shift change report and attends patient staffing conferences and treatment team meetings.
- Performs routine nursing duties such as taking vital signs, weighing patients, collecting and labeling urine and lab specimens or drug screens.
- Documents on patients’ charts concerning behavioral observations, vital signs, symptoms, accidents, injuries, etc.
- Assists or performs all other paraprofessional nursing duties for provision of patient care.

- Premium pay of $1.50 per hour
- Longevity pay starting at $1.00 per hour
- $1.00 per hour for current CNA certification
