About The Position

Under the direct supervision of an RN, the Nursing Tech participates in the delivery of nursing care to patients. This position exists within the content of a time-limited student experience. This position can also be filled by a graduate nurse who is a current employee, unsuccessful in passing licensure examination required by the state board and is waiting to retest. Works within the Clinical Nursing area in a support role, assisting nursing staff in the provision of care to pediatric patients and their families.

Requirements

High School Diploma / GED Required
Enrollment in a Nursing Program Required
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - within 3 months - Required

Responsibilities

Under RN supervision, assists in the provision of care to patients and families.
Follows Nursing Process to deliver safe care: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation.
Responds promptly and positively to patients, families, associates, and all others in a respectful, courteous, and confidential manner.
Follows hospital and departmental procedures and policies, including but not limited to patient safety, mandatory education, confidentiality and attendance.
Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills and use monitoring equipment, under direct supervision of RN/Preceptor.
Demonstrates high standards of professionalism by maintaining a professional image in all he/she does.
Identifies own learning needs and obtains necessary education to meet requirements of position.
Responsible for efficient and cost effective utilization of hospital resources.
