About The Position

The Nursing Supervisor (Full Time-Days) – PACU Main position at Texas Health Dallas is a leadership role responsible for overseeing both the Main and Perot PACUs. This role involves a blend of staffing and administrative duties, averaging about 50% in each. The supervisor must be capable of functioning independently as a PACU RN and taking call shifts for both departments. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, critical thinking, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to the needs of a diverse patient population and collaborating departments.

Requirements

Associate’s degree graduate from an accredited school of nursing required
2 Years experience as a registered nurse with previous experience as a charge nurse or similar leadership role (i.e. Charge nurse, committee chair, preceptor) required
RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
Prior leadership or charge nurse experience in a high-acuity perioperative services environment, including PACU, ICU, ED, or procedural areas strongly preferred
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days Req
PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Upon Hire Pref
OCN - Oncology Certified Nurse Upon Hire Pref

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Leadership, UBC, and appropriate team members to establish, implement, and monitor department policies/procedures.
Facilitate unit goals.
Evaluate and individualize patient care.
Provide direction to staff to promote quality outcomes.
Engage staff to promote evidence-based practices within the unit.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and regulatory requirements for compliance.
Provide bedside leadership and clinical expertise to improve quality of patient care.
Provide safe direct patient care in coordination with other staff when unit activity dictates.
Provide guidance in emergency or complex situations.
Use appropriate methodology consistently for communication handoffs.
