About The Position

The Nursing Supervisor (Full Time-Days) – PACU Main position at Texas Health Dallas is a leadership role responsible for overseeing both the Main and Perot PACUs. This role involves a blend of staffing and administrative duties, averaging about 50% in each. The supervisor must be capable of functioning independently as a PACU RN and taking call shifts for both departments. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, critical thinking, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to the needs of a diverse patient population and collaborating departments.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree graduate from an accredited school of nursing required
  • 2 Years experience as a registered nurse with previous experience as a charge nurse or similar leadership role (i.e. Charge nurse, committee chair, preceptor) required
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • Prior leadership or charge nurse experience in a high-acuity perioperative services environment, including PACU, ICU, ED, or procedural areas strongly preferred
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days Req
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Upon Hire Pref
  • OCN - Oncology Certified Nurse Upon Hire Pref

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Leadership, UBC, and appropriate team members to establish, implement, and monitor department policies/procedures.
  • Facilitate unit goals.
  • Evaluate and individualize patient care.
  • Provide direction to staff to promote quality outcomes.
  • Engage staff to promote evidence-based practices within the unit.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and regulatory requirements for compliance.
  • Provide bedside leadership and clinical expertise to improve quality of patient care.
  • Provide safe direct patient care in coordination with other staff when unit activity dictates.
  • Provide guidance in emergency or complex situations.
  • Use appropriate methodology consistently for communication handoffs.
