About The Position

Provides administrative, operational, and clinical responsibilities for all services in the facility on evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Serves as the clinical resource person on patient care and services; acts as the patient care representative; collaborates with medical staff, ancillary support, and clinical services in order to ensure optimal patient care services and environmental conditions at all times. Responsible for notifying Administrator-On-Call of serious issues, incidents, and internal and external disasters. This position requires Patient Care as an essential function. The role involves supervising patient care through verification of the use of the nursing process according to established nursing practices and patient care standards and providing direction and guidance to facilitate the nursing process. It also ensures appropriate intervention is demonstrated in all situations, such as deterioration of patient condition, disruptive behavior, and equipment malfunctions. The Nursing Supervisor serves as the off-shift patient care representative, listens to patient or patient family members' issues, documents, and complaints, and investigates if required. The role includes conducting rounds of all patient care areas and defining expectations for accurate reporting with emphasis on high-acuity patients. Collaboration throughout the off-shift with support services, emergency, admitting, and clinical services is essential to coordinate clinical patient care or environmental needs. The supervisor follows through to ensure patient's needs, as well as environmental and safety-related issues, are resolved.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Nursing required
  • Registered Nurse [RN - State License] required
  • Clinical nursing experience 5-7 years required
  • Lead nursing experience 2-3 years required
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving/issue-resolution skills.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, working with a broad patient population.
  • Ability to anticipate challenges and develop and implement strategies for addressing them.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all professional and support staff.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Strong leadership abilities to provide guidance, mentorship, and education to others.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred
  • Master's Degree Nursing preferred
  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] preferred
