The Nursing Supervisor is responsible and accountable for directing and facilitating the flow of patient care activities of the department/area. This role supports and assists with the development and actualization of the department's/area's goals (strategic plan). The Nursing Supervisor coordinates and directs the department's/area's patient care operations for an assigned shift, competently provides care appropriate to age and specialty of the patient as defined by the department, and manages personnel effectively. They analyze workload and skill requirements to meet care needs for the assigned shift, promote and practice cost containment, and advocate for patients and their families while assisting with the maintenance of ethical procedures. Additionally, this role promotes positive peer and guest relations, participates in and promotes quality improvement and nursing research activities, functions as a leader, and actively participates in and promotes the development of self and others. The position also requires adherence to internal controls and reporting structure.
