About The Position

The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for interpreting hospital policies and procedures to staff, initiating corrective action when policies are not followed, and providing direction in emergencies. This role involves monitoring staff utilization, facilitating interdepartmental communication, and effectively communicating issues to hospital administration and department heads. The supervisor ensures adequate resources for patient care, maintains regulatory compliance, and acts as the on-site manager in the administrator's absence. They identify and report risk issues, adjust staffing based on patient needs and staff availability, and participate in performance improvement activities.

Requirements

Graduate from accredited Nursing Program
Valid NJ RN License
BLS, ACLS, PALS - AHA approved

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
Nursing Supervisor Experience preferred

Responsibilities

Provides interpretation of hospital policies and procedures to staff.
Initiates appropriate and immediate corrective action when established policy/procedure is not followed.
Provides direction in all emergencies.
Monitors for proper utilization of staff.
Facilitates lines of communication interdepartmentally.
Intercedes on problematic issues involving patients, families, visitors, and personnel.
Effectively communicates issues and actions to hospital administration and appropriate department heads.
Proactive in ensuring adequate resources available to meet patient care needs.
Ensures regulatory compliance.
Demonstrates competence as on-site manager responsible for hospital operations in the absence of administrator.
Identifies and reports actual potential risk issues.
Adjusts staffing of nursing departments based on changes in acuity, census and addresses sick calls, no shows and staffing issues.
Participates with hospital's Performance Improvement activities through education and monitoring staff.
