The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for clinical operations, acting as a clinical resource, and demonstrating authentic leadership to create a positive practice and learning environment. This role involves managing staff and resources, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, holding staff accountable, coordinating activities between departments, and serving as a liaison between physicians, nurses, staff, patients, and families. The supervisor also plays a key role in patient placement, rounding throughout the hospital, managing administrative and clinical functions, responding to patient care issues, sending shift reports, and delegating assignments to the Resource Nurse. Additionally, the role involves teaching and learning, demonstrating engagement in lifelong learning, participating in educational activities, sharing new knowledge, and participating in hospital committees. Authentic leadership is crucial, involving creating a positive environment, demonstrating flexibility, building relationships, and participating in the development and implementation of practice standards and innovative solutions.
