Summer Nurse Externs are provided an opportunity to become immersed in a health care environment by: working directly with a preceptor in providing direct patient care, practicing clinical skills under the direction of a preceptor, attending education sessions, observing in specialty areas and preparing a project beneficial to the student's assigned unit.
