Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Minimum 2 years experience in mentoring/tutoring/advising students
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with audiovisual equipment
  • Experience with Nursing Simulation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong presentation skills
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing Education preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manages the day to day operations of the Nursing Enrichment and Tutoring (NET) Center
  • Works closely with the undergraduate and graduate level coordinators to ensure at-risk students are identified and receive ongoing tutoring and support
  • Works closely with the Skills/Sim lab coordinator to ensure students have opportunity to practice necessary skills in the NET
  • Manages any supplemental instructional offerings in conjunction with the COSH requirements
  • In conjunction with the Associate Dean, evaluates NCLEX pass rates as well as Certificate pass rates to ensure curricular alignment and program offerings as needed
  • Serves on the Curriculum Committee as well as the Academic Standards Committee to ensure alignment of services at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Hires, orients, trains, and supervises nursing student tutors and mentors as appropriate
  • Develops and recommends an appropriate budget for all activities supervised
  • Gathers and reviews data on student response to NET activities each semester and initiates new programs as indicated
  • Assesses undergraduate and graduate retention issues and plans interventions accordingly
  • Serves as a resource to the Student Nurses Association
  • Implements special projects as requested by the Associate Dean and the Chairperson i.e. assist with the arrangements for the Nursing Community Advisory Board (CAB)
  • Directs academic support and referrals for undergraduate and graduate nursing students
  • Provides or arranges for workshops to enhance student success for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral nursing students
  • Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate for the position
