About The Position

The Nursing Student Success & Retention Specialist supports student success, progression, retention, and NCLEX readiness within the Nursing Program. This position provides proactive academic support through early identification of at-risk students, individualized remediation planning, coaching, mentoring, data analysis, and collaboration with faculty. The Nursing Student Success & Retention Specialist serves as a key resource in the development, implementation, and evaluation of retention initiatives while utilizing assessment and performance data to improve student outcomes and program effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with documented active pursuit of a master's degree in nursing.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience.
  • Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license or multistate licensure privilege.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ATI Proctor Certification and ATI Champion designation.
  • Proficiency with educational technology platforms and student success software.

  • Experience in nursing education, academic support, student success, remediation, or retention initiatives preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify academically at-risk students through review of course performance, assessment data, standardized testing results, and faculty referrals.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and document individualized remediation and student success plans.
  • Provide academic coaching, study skill development, test-taking strategies, and success planning.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret assessment and retention data as outlined in the Systematic Evaluation Plan and program action plans.
  • Collaborate with faculty to identify student performance trends, strengths, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with faculty regarding student progression concerns, remediation plans, and intervention strategies.
  • Provide guidance and support related to academic resource products, reports, assessment tools, and remediation resources.
  • Provide orientation regarding academic support products, learning management systems, assessments, remediation expectations, and available academic support resources.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and support sessions focused on study skills, technology utilization, academic success, and NCLEX readiness.
  • Collaborate with faculty and Disability Resource Services to implement approved testing accommodations.
  • Ensure assessment and remediation practices comply with institutional policies, current best practices, accreditation expectations, and program standards.
  • Serve on nursing program committees as assigned.
  • Participate in professional development activities related to student success, retention, assessment, and nursing education.
  • Assist with special projects, accreditation activities, and program evaluation initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
