About The Position

We're looking for a dedicated Nursing Station Technician (NST) to care for patients on our new Outpatient / Short Stay department at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, MN. The NST is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties. In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, collaboration and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.
  • Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.
  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)
  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the professional caregiver in the delivery of patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding
  • Transporting patient and/or equipment
  • 1:1 sitting with patients
  • Setting up and maintaining patient rooms
  • Reordering, and stocking supplies
  • Answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering tests
