About The Position

We are a 120-bed not-for-profit nursing facility offering advanced healthcare while providing skilled nursing and rehabilitative services for both long and short term residents. Located on eight beautiful landscaped acres, we also provide sub-acute services, wound care and respite services. The Mission of Island Nursing and Rehab Center is to provide the highest quality of care to all residents/patients in a manner that ensures respect, dignity, compassion, sensitivity and concern. The Vision of Island Nursing and Rehab Center is to achieve the highest level of resident/patient care services by focusing on resident/patient satisfaction and to serve as a center of excellence for our specialty programs, as well as a high-quality provider of care to the elderly and physically frail population in our community. We are currently seeking full-time Staffing Coordinator who will embody the passion and commitment required to deliver the ultimate care for our residents.

Requirements

  • Must possess 3-5 years experience staffing in a health care setting.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Must possess strong computer skills with the ability to type 45-55wpm.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to handle heavy phones in a fast paced environment.
  • Must possess ability to interact professionally with Nursing Management/Supervisory staff.
  • Must be a self-starter and work independently and efficiently without direct supervision and minimal direction.
  • Must be able to multi-task and interact interpersonally with all levels of nursing staff.
  • Ability to walk, move, traverse, about.
  • Ability to ascend/descend, traverse stairs.
  • Ability to maintain a stationary position (sit/stand) for extended periods.
  • Ability to move, transport, remove approximately 5-10 lbs. (documents).
  • Must possess ability visually to detect, determine, recognize, inspect and auditory acuity to express, discern, convey, converse with or without assistive/corrective devices.
  • Must exhibit the ability to communicate (transmit and receive), convey, exchange both verbal and written information in an effective time efficient manner.
  • Must exhibit the physical ability to provide the full scope of required job tasks. This includes but is not limited to lifting, prolonged sitting and repetitive movements.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions and follow through with logical plan and course of action.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform assigned tasks independently without supervision.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adequate and accurate staffing schedules for all units within the facility.
  • Staffing /scheduling all support nursing personnel.
  • Ensure the appropriate staffing par levels in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Provides direct administrative skills/support within the nursing administrative offices when required.
  • Ensures all payroll, “scan/punch” audits are done bi-weekly and forwarded to Director, Assistant Director and/or Management /Supervisory team as needed when problems are identified.
  • Processes all related employee paperwork including but not limited to: change of employment statuses, job postings, staff requisition forms and separation of employment packets for Director of Nursing’s approval.
  • Ensures that all other related task as assigned are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Answers phones for the staffing/nursing office and processes messages as needed.
  • Advises Nursing Management/Supervision when “call-ins” occur and begins replacement of staffing vacancy to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Assists with the nursing department’s payroll.
  • Checks that attendance records are maintained.
  • Advises Nursing Administrative assistant of any changes/problems.
  • Receives “call-ins”, and follows up with replacing staff as needed, to meet staffing needs.
  • Returns all calls in a timely manner.
  • Assists in performing clerical typing/computer skills and support for the nursing office as needed.
  • Ability to prepare routine and periodic nursing reports as needed.
  • Capability to process all paperwork for new personnel and exiting for the nursing department sets up all necessary paperwork for employee files on an as needed basis.
  • Advises the Nursing Administrative Assistant of any changes in employment for generating change of status forms, separation packets and other related forms to forward to Human Resources for accurate & timely processing.
  • Advises Human Resources Department monthly of staffing vacancies (position control reports) to maintain adequate staffing requirements which ensures ability to provide quality care to the residents.
  • Initiates and completes staffing assignment pages each week for all shifts.
  • Checks the staffing sheets for accuracy to assure staffing is sufficient.
  • Forwards a copy of the daily staffing patterns to Director of Nursing & Director of Finance/CFO.
  • Provides Nursing Administrative Assistant with the Leave of Absence Logs and Vacation schedules of all nursing personnel.
  • Creates and maintains a professional atmosphere of courtesy and respect towards Directors, Management/Supervisors, all support employees, residents/patients, families, visitors and vendors.
  • Ability to assist, maintain, update and distribute all Nursing Services’ policy and procedure manuals as needed.
  • Assures confidentiality of all resident information.
  • Attends in-service education as required by position title.
  • Performs related duties as required.
