About The Position
Find your purpose by becoming a Nursing Service Tech/Nursing Assistant in the Float Pool at Rice Memorial Hospital! This role involves performing routine treatment procedures as directed, assisting Staff Nurses in more complex procedures, and maintaining essential supplies and equipment. You will be responsible for patient comfort, safety, and assisting with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, and hygiene. The position also requires assisting with patient mobility, ambulation, and providing general care for patients in isolation under supervision. Effective communication with the nursing staff regarding patient condition and complaints is crucial.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Nursing Assistant, preferred.
- Previous orderly or nurse aide experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine treatment procedures as directed.
- Assist Staff Nurse in complicated treatment procedures.
- Maintain traction supplies including traction cart every shift.
- Complete all equipment set up as directed.
- Report any changes observed in condition or behavior of patient.
- Communicate any patient complaints of pain to patient's nurse, charge nurse or unit coordinator.
- Assist in and, as necessary, accompany patient in the admission, transfer and discharge procedures.
- Provide and/or assists with personal care as necessary (i.e. baths, dressing of patients, personal hygiene, etc.).
- Assist with patient care, such as positioning patient, lifting and turning patient with proper body mechanics, applying/utilizing special equipment as necessary and ambulating the patient as directed.
- Under supervision, perform general care activities for patients in isolation.
