Nursing Registered Veterinary Technician
About The Position
MedVet is seeking a collaborative and driven Nursing Credentialed Veterinary Technician for its Emergency and Specialty veterinary practice. The Nursing department provides constant supervision to patients to ensure treatment plans are carried out. The role involves identifying patient distress and responding appropriately, as well as phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, recovery assistance, client follow-up, and client education. The proposed schedule is Wednesday 9 a.m.–9:30 p.m., Friday 11 a.m.–11:30 p.m., and Saturday 11 a.m.–11:30 p.m. The hiring range is $18.75–$35.00 per hour, based on experience. Employment is contingent on passing a drug screen and background check.
Requirements
- State Registered Veterinary Technician license required.
- Prior veterinary experience required.
- Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
- Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Previous nursing or critical care experience desired.
Responsibilities
- Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as necessary.
- Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize care based on assessment.
- Partner with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
- Provide client education, including home care instructions, medication indications and adverse reactions, and wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
- Assist veterinarians with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures.
- Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
- Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
- Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
