This position supports the Departments of Nursing's quality and safety programs by providing quality improvement facilitation and support for nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams. The Nursing Quality Specialist assists the Director of Nursing Quality with assessing learning needs related to quality and performance improvement, and provides education and mentoring in continuous quality improvement methods. The role participates in monitoring regulatory compliance, identifying improvement opportunities, and assisting patient care units with improvement strategies. Responsibilities include participating in occurrence reviews, complaint investigations, Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs), and facilitating corrective action plans. The specialist also assists with benchmarking activities with organizations like the National Database for Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) and the University Healthsystem Consortium (UHC).
