About The Position

The incumbent is responsible for scheduling and/or overseeing scheduling of all resident MDS assessments to ensure timeliness. Coordinate and oversee all functions of the MDS assessment process to ensure compliance with Federal and State requirements. Reports to the Director of Nursing. This position is in the Career Service system.

Requirements

  • Must possess valid licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida
  • Must possess a valid CPR card
  • At least three (3) years of experience as a Risk Manager, Director of Nursing (DON), Assistant DON, or Unit Manager in a skilled nursing Facility
  • Successful completion of the employment screening to include, but not limited to, a national background check and drug test

Nice To Haves

  • At least one (1) year of experience working in a long-term care facility with a geriatric population
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Basic experience and familiarity with MDS
  • Experience conducting RAI-MDS assessments and compiling data reports based on those assessments
  • MDS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Participate in resident level of care determination upon admission
  • Participate in tracking changes in residents’ level of care to assure timely scheduling of MDS assessments
  • Be familiar with residents’ condition and care needs.
  • Review all MDS assessments and related forms to certify timely completion by signing the MDS forms on the appropriate sections
  • Review reports of timely completion of residents’ MDS assessments and care plans and take follow-up action as necessary
  • Participate in the Quality Assessment and Assurance Program, in cooperation with the Quality Assurance Coordinator
  • Analyze Quality Indicator reports for potential resident concerns and problems and review residents’ care plans to be sure this information is included
  • Conduct and/or participate in interdisciplinary team and rehabilitation conference meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information
  • Complete reports and assignments accurately and adhere to established time schedules
  • Establish open lines of communication between all departments
  • Observe infection control procedures relating to nursing services
  • Work cooperatively with administration, Nursing Service Personnel, Physicians, community agencies, residents, families, and consultants
  • Be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision
  • Maintain current certification in Basic Life Support and perform this skill when necessary
  • Perform all duties assigned by the Director of Nursing (DON) in a cooperative, effective, timely, and professional manner
