About The Position

The Practitioner, Nursing Professional Development (NPD) serves as an educator, facilitator, and professional development resource for nursing staff across IU Health. This PRN position primarily delivers system Core Classes and educational programs that support onboarding, professional growth, competency development, and excellence in patient care. Teaching experience is strongly preferred because the role requires effective classroom instruction, learner engagement, and facilitation of adult learning principles. The position is primarily based at IU Health West Hospital in Avon, Indiana, with a primary focus on that facility’s educational and onboarding needs. Most scheduled assignments will occur at the IU North location, and the practitioner may occasionally support other regional facilities, including IU Health North Hospital, IU Health Fishers/Saxony Hospital, and IU Health Methodist Hospital in downtown Indianapolis, as organizational and educational needs arise. Using NPD practice judgment and expertise, the practitioner promotes professional role competence, lifelong learning, and workforce development in alignment with the IU Health Way. The role partners with nursing leaders, educators, and interdisciplinary stakeholders to support organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
