About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Nursing Professional Development Practitioner/Specialist for a per diem position, working approximately 4 hours per week, Monday-Friday. This role primarily supports the UR CNPD Provider Unit, which is accredited by the ANCC. The practitioner will collaborate with the CNE coordinator and team to ensure adherence to ANCC criteria and standards, and to effectively plan, implement, and evaluate educational activities for RNs and healthcare professionals, focusing on improving knowledge, competence, practice performance, and patient/system outcomes. On-the-job training will be provided for the ANCC Nurse Planner role.

Requirements

  • NYS RN license
  • BSN
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Required experience in acute nursing care
  • Mandatory education and competencies must be up to date and maintained according to service area/unit requirements.
  • Staff must have received a "Successful" or "Exceeds Expectations" on most recent evaluation to move to per diem status.
  • Staff must have worked (FT/PT) in a clinical setting within the previous twelve months to transition to per diem status.

Responsibilities

  • Provision of competent direct patient care based on established standards.
  • Contribution to unit activities and support for enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level.
  • Support for peers in the delivery of patient care services.
  • Assumption of an expanded role which may include charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities.
  • Collaboration with the CNE coordinator and other team members to ensure ANCC criteria and standards are followed.
  • Effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities according to educational standards and adult learning principles.
  • Designing CNE awarded educational activities to improve the knowledge, competence (skill), practice performance, and/or patient/system outcomes of RNs and healthcare professionals.
