About The Position

Emory Healthcare is seeking a Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner for the Neuro/Stroke department. This role is responsible for being a capable clinician with broad experience in patient care and a sound understanding of a particular patient population. The practitioner will routinely use acquired knowledge, theory, research, and experience to respond to changes in clinical situations. This NPD professional will apply the Synergy Model for Care in practice, personalizing care for each patient/family, and serving as a resource and advocate for colleagues. The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner is a registered nurse who supports professional role competence and growth of nurses and other healthcare personnel. This individual applies the Association of Nursing Professional Development's (ANPD) Practice Model, integrating adult learning principles, evidence-based practice, and system-level thinking to support onboarding, competency management, education, role development, and quality improvement initiatives. The role involves supporting orientation and onboarding, assisting with unit-specific programs, serving as a resource to preceptors, contributing to competency validation, identifying learning needs, developing and implementing education programs using various platforms, supporting career progression, encouraging professional development, acting as a liaison, providing input into the departmental budget, promoting evidence-based practice, and participating in data collection and reporting related to educational outcomes. Travel may be required between clinical sites (less than 10%). This is an on-site position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Valid, active unencumbered nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board
  • Certification. BLS
  • Knowledge of ANPD Scope and Standards of Practice
  • Strong communication, teaching, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, LMS platforms, and simulation tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Prior experience in education, leadership, precepting or mentorship.
  • ACLS and/or PALS if applicable or other specialty certification.

Responsibilities

  • Supports orientation and onboarding of nursing staff, new graduates, and other clinical personnel
  • Assists with coordination and delivery of unit- or service-line specific onboarding programs
  • Serves as a resource to preceptors and mentors.
  • Contributes to competency validation and tracking for nursing staff.
  • Participates in the identification of learning needs and performance gaps.
  • Supports development and implementation of competency assessment tools.
  • Delivers continuing education and just-in-time training using evidence-based methods.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates education programs to meet staff learning needs.
  • Uses multiple delivery platforms including in-person, e-learning, and simulation.
  • Supports career progression and role development through coaching and resources.
  • Encourages professional development and specialty certification.
  • Acts as liaison between clinical staff, leadership, and NPD Specialist.
  • Provides input into the development of the departmental budget.
  • Promotes evidence-based practice through staff education.
  • Participates in data collection, analysis, and reporting related to educational outcomes.
