Nursing PhD Faculty
About The Position
Walden University is seeking experienced nurse scholars to teach and mentor doctoral students in its fully online PhD in Nursing program. The School of Nursing is looking for faculty to contribute to the PhD program, sharing their professional experience and academic knowledge with students globally. This remote, part-time position allows for flexible work on one's own schedule, accommodating other professional and personal commitments. New faculty receive comprehensive training covering teaching techniques, the electronic learning platform, dissertation management, university policies and procedures, academic integrity assessment, and research supervision.
Requirements
- Hold a PhD in Nursing (or related discipline with strong research methods expertise).
- Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing.
- An earned PhD or doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
- An active, current, and unrestricted RN license in one of the 50 U.S. states.
- Maintain all appropriate credentials and licensure throughout their appointment.
- Demonstrate a strong record of scholarships, including research, publication, committee service, and academic advisement.
- Experience mentoring doctoral students.
- Experience serving on dissertation committees.
- Expertise in theory, research methods, leadership, nursing education, or population health.
- Demonstrated program of scholarship (publications, research, presentations).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, emotional intelligence, organizational, data management, and student-centered teaching skills.
- Strong commitment to student learning and development.
Nice To Haves
- A minimum of one year of online teaching experience at the master’s (MSN) or doctoral level is preferred.
- Externally funded research experience.
- Experience chairing dissertation committees.
Responsibilities
- Teach and mentor doctoral students in the online PhD in Nursing program.
- Share professional experience and academic knowledge with students.
- Log into courses a minimum of four days per week.
- Respond to student inquiries within 48 hours.
- Deliver substantive, thoughtful, and timely instruction and feedback using online technologies.
- Engage actively with students in the online classroom environment.
- Serve as committee chair or member of doctoral project study committees.
- Instruct online courses or modules when needed.
- Participate in program and university-based residencies.
- Remain current in their discipline through ongoing engagement with research, scholarship, and professional activities.
- Supervise research and dissertations.
