About The Position

Manages standard functions that are common to nursing services and patient care operations in nursing units/departments. Works across all hospital environments and settings where nursing is practiced. Standard operations functions include the domains of recruitment, hiring and onboarding, clinical informatics and IT, nursing care delivery models, regulatory, quality, safety and patient centered experience functions. Acts on behalf of senior nursing leaders in sponsoring and directing mid size to large organizational projects (both entity and enterprise scope) that directly impact nursing and patient care. As assigned and in addition, manages and coordinates projects. Management/leadership duties include assessing, planning, coordinating, developing alignment, synergy and partnership among many staff and leaders, representing the position and advocating for the voice of nurse leaders, implementing, executing and evaluating. The position works independently and interdependently, has a high degree of autonomy and is responsible for decisions and actions that have high stakes and interdependencies for the hospital and enterprise. The position interfaces and collaborates with nursing, patient care, medical and non-clinical staff and leaders across the hospital and enterprise.

Requirements

  • 4 years nursing experience in a health care delivery system (e.g acute care hospital, ambulatory clinic, freestanding emergency/surgery center)
  • 2 years in a leadership position or functional leadership role (e.g. charge nurse, supervisor, assistant nurse manager, committee/project lead, preceptor/coach).
  • Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an academic medical center or complex teaching hospital, preferred.
  • Experience in a formal leadership position is preferred.
  • Masters or Graduate Degree in Nursing or Relevant Field (e.g. education, organizational leadership, business) is preferred.
  • Certified in Nursing Administration, preferred.
