About The Position

The Child Center of NY is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at our Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) as a Nurse Manager. The nurse manager will play a key role in ensuring our psychiatric and medical team provide high-quality, person-centered care to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use disorders. This position involves supervising a team of RN’s and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to promote wellness, administer treatments, create policies and procedures, and provide education on behavioral health conditions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
  • Active RN license in the state of New York
  • Training and experience working with people of all ages in behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment settings
  • CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work amongst diverse social, cultural, and economic groups
  • Excellent time management, phone, and face-to-face engagement skills
  • Proficient in computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Psychiatric Nursing
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention techniques preferred
  • Experience working with patients with substance use disorders
  • Bilingual: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali, Hindi, Korean, etc. Other languages may be required depending on client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, including physical exams, vital signs, medication reconciliation, communicable disease screening, behavioral health screening, tobacco use assessment, and metabolic monitoring.
  • Coordinate and manage patient medical care by scheduling appointments, making referrals, obtaining medical records, coordinating laboratory services, and collaborating with community providers and pharmacies.
  • Administer medications, including injectable psychotropic medications, monitor treatment response, complete prior authorizations, manage denials, and communicate clinical concerns to prescribing providers and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide first aid, respond to medical emergencies and behavioral health crises, and support crisis intervention through de-escalation and coordination with emergency services.
  • Educate patients individually and in groups on medications, chronic disease management, behavioral health conditions, nutrition, exercise, reproductive and sexual health, harm reduction, and overall wellness.
  • Conduct outreach and follow-up to promote patient engagement, continuity of care, and adherence to treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare providers to ensure integrated, person-centered care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, and ensure compliance with CCBHC standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide clinical leadership and direct supervision to Registered Nurses delivering nursing services and care coordination within the CCBHC while serving as a member of the interdisciplinary leadership team.
  • Oversee daily nursing operations, including staffing, caseload management, service access, policy and protocol implementation, regulatory compliance, and adherence to CCBHC standards and evidence-based, trauma-informed practices.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, program documentation, data collection, reporting, and collaboration with OMH, community providers, schools, and other system partners.
  • Recruit, onboard, supervise, evaluate, and develop nursing staff while promoting family engagement, youth voice, cultural responsiveness, and equitable service delivery.
