About The Position

Jersey College is seeking experienced Registered Nurses with an MSN or higher who are committed to student success and preparing the next generation of nurses. The Nursing Instructor provides nursing instruction and clinical education to LPN/PN and RN students. Depending on program and campus needs, instruction may take place in classrooms, laboratories, simulation settings, and/or clinical environments, including long-term care, sub-acute, and acute clinical sites. The instructor fosters a supportive learning environment, teaches content appropriate to students’ educational levels and needs, supervises students in clinical settings, and evaluates their learning, performance, and competency. The role also includes maintaining accurate student records, providing guidance and feedback, keeping current in nursing practice, participating in required meetings and training, and collaborating with faculty, administration, and clinical partners. The position reports duties as assigned by the Program Director, Program Dean, or Campus Administration.

Requirements

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a higher nursing degree.
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
At least 3 years of recent professional Registered Nurse experience.
Clinical experience relevant to the nursing courses and clinical experiences being taught.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a nursing specialty that contributes to student learning.
Strong commitment to nursing education and student success.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, clinical partners, and colleagues.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to provide clear instruction and constructive feedback.
Ability to supervise and evaluate students in a clinical environment.
Strong clinical judgment and knowledge of current nursing practice.
Knowledge and experience in the assigned nursing specialty.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a faculty team.
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain accurate documentation and meet established deadlines.
Professional demeanor and commitment to high standards of nursing practice and education.

Nice To Haves

Prior nursing education or teaching experience.
Experience teaching LPN/PN and/or RN students in a classroom, laboratory, simulation, or clinical setting.
Experience precepting, mentoring, or orienting nurses or nursing students.
Experience with clinical evaluation and competency-based education.
Experience using learning management systems and other educational technology.

Responsibilities

Provide classroom, laboratory, simulation, and/or clinical instruction to LPN/PN and RN students, as assigned.
Provide clinical instruction at long-term care, sub-acute, and acute clinical sites.
Create a supportive learning environment that fosters academic growth and professional development.
Deliver instruction appropriate to the educational level and needs of LPN/PN and RN students.
Supervise students in clinical settings and promote safe, professional nursing practice.
Evaluate student performance and clinical competence according to program objectives, policies, and established standards.
Implement evaluation methods to measure student learning, progress, and competency.
Prepare accurate and timely student progress reports and grade reports.
Maintain accurate and timely attendance records.
Provide students with guidance, feedback, and support.
Maintain current knowledge and expertise in the nursing specialty and clinical practice environment.
Attend faculty meetings, training sessions, and other required academic or campus meetings.
Maintain professional qualifications through continuing education, in-service training, and academic coursework as appropriate.
Collaborate with faculty, administration, clinical partners, and other members of the academic community.
Maintain professional standards and contribute to a positive learning environment.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Program Dean, or Campus Administration.
