About The Position

Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a Nursing Instructor. This is a full-time faculty, union, exempt, and benefits-eligible position. CCC is committed to continuous improvement and innovation in support of student-centered teaching and learning, and to understanding and dismantling systems of oppression. The college strives to be a student-ready institution that supports and partners with students to promote discovery and growth. This is a full-time, in-person, team-teaching position located at the Harmony campus in Milwaukie, Oregon. The salary is set per the union contract and is non-negotiable for the 175-day/year contract with summers off. A full benefit package is included. The CCC Nursing Program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission of Education in Nursing (ACEN) and is part of the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE). This position requires a flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings, nights, and/or weekends. Many clinical shifts are 12 hours. Faculty will be required to meet minimum Oregon Health Authority standards prior to being in the clinical setting, including a criminal background check and drug screen. Faculty must maintain required licensure/certification.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a Master degree in a related field predicated on OSBN approval for exception.
  • Current unencumbered Oregon RN Licensure or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Must be willing to obtain Washington RN license upon hire.
  • Teaching experience in a nursing program leading to eligibility for RN licensure.
  • Work experience related to medical/surgical, OB, pediatric, or mental health nursing.
  • Three (3) years working experience as a registered nurse.
  • Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the college’s culture, including integrity, a customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility, and a willingness to change.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and manipulate objects.
  • Ability to remain on their feet for extended periods of time.
  • Sufficient strength to lift objects and/or assist students in positioning patients.
  • Adequate manual dexterity and coordination to operate equipment such as computer keyboard, monitor, projector, calculator, printer, and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to obtain or collect information through observation, listening, touching, or smelling.
  • Ability to recall, collect, analyze, synthesize, and integrate information from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to problem-solve and think critically in order to apply knowledge and skill.
  • Ability to communicate verbally, and through reading and writing, with individuals from a variety of social, emotional, cultural, and intellectual backgrounds.
  • Ability to relay information in oral and written form effectively, accurately, reliably, and intelligibly to individuals and groups, using the English language.
  • Ability to demonstrate emotional stability to function effectively under stress and adapt to changing environments.
  • Ability to maintain effective and sensitive relationships with others.
  • Ability to examine and modify their own behavior when it interferes with others or the learning environment.

  • Reside within 50 miles of Oregon City, Harmony, or Wilsonville campus as a condition of employment.
  • Provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Provide innovative instruction in a variety of classroom, clinical, and clinical laboratory settings.
  • Develop and deliver student-centered experiences aligned with course and program outcomes that promote learning.
  • Plan and implement teaching strategies to assist students in meeting course/curriculum outcomes.
  • Evaluate student learning and performance, and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Create a safe, inclusive learning environment that supports diverse students academically, culturally, and economically.
  • Participate in the implementation and evaluation of CCC and Nursing Program policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the development, adherence to, and evaluation of program standards required for OSBN approval.
  • Participate in curriculum and course development, evaluation, and revision.
  • Engage in program assessment and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with college personnel and community partners.
  • Participate in college, Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE), and/or professional committees/organizations.
  • Maintain active licensure and meet required health and safety compliance for clinical instruction.
  • Role model professional behavior and communication in all academic and clinical settings.
  • Communicate in a civil, respectful manner to all colleagues, staff, students, and community partners.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share teaching responsibilities and uphold program standards.
