About The Position

The Nursing House Supervisor provides administrative and clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across all hospital units. This role oversees hospital operations, coordinates staffing, and serves as the on-site leader for both clinical and administrative decision-making. The Supervisor supports staff performance, promotes safe and efficient care, and acts as the facility’s key representative during evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical nursing experience, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong clinical judgment, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Skilled in crisis management, de-escalation, and patient advocacy.
  • Proficient in EHR documentation and hospital technology systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and coordinate care in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
  • De-escalation training within 30 days of hire.
  • All certifications must remain current during employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Pediatric or acute care experience (1–2 years) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with behavioral health or neurodevelopmental populations highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical oversight and guidance to nursing staff across all inpatient units.
  • Manage patient flow, including admissions, transfers, and discharges to support efficient throughput.
  • Monitor patient acuity and adjust staffing levels as needed to maintain safe, effective care.
  • Respond promptly to clinical emergencies and coordinate escalation of care when appropriate.
  • Participate in clinical rounds and serve as a resource for evidence-based nursing practice.
  • Coordinate daily hospital operations and interdepartmental communication.
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage, authorize overtime or agency use as necessary, and promote cost-effective resource utilization.
  • Serve as the administrative representative during off-hours.
  • Support implementation of hospital-wide initiatives and service excellence programs.
  • Foster a culture of compassion, respect, and empathy in every patient interaction.
  • Address patient and family concerns in real time to support positive experiences and resolution.
  • Advocate for patient needs and ensure timely access to appropriate care and services.
  • Monitor compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and state/federal regulations.
  • Participate in safety rounds, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement through incident review and corrective actions.
  • Mentor and support nursing staff in clinical decision-making and professional growth.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate continuing education opportunities.
  • Maintain personal and staff competency through ongoing professional development and participation in hospital committees.
  • Support budget management by optimizing staffing levels and minimizing overtime or resource waste.
  • Contribute data and insights for staffing trends and operational planning.
