About The Position

The Nursing House Supervisor (RN) is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of nursing operations at the facility, ensuring adequate staffing to provide care. When scheduled, this role oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services with a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude. The supervisor collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments, and administration to meet residents' physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental, and cultural needs, and resolves customer complaints. This position provides leadership to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards, with a strong emphasis on patient safety. A Level 2 Background Screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse is required.

Requirements

Current registered nursing license in State of facility required
1 year of experience as an RN in any setting required
CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility)
First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Nice To Haves

BSN from accredited school of nursing preferred.
Greater than 1 year of experience as an RN strongly preferred.
1 year in psychiatric/recovery programs preferred.
Some experience as a charge RN or other leadership position strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Anticipates and effectively manages changes in census and acuity and allocates nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity/care needed.
Role models expectations related to customer service and demonstrates a sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety.
Enforces and interprets policies for the delivery of patient and resident care.
Ensures proper staffing for each unit, keeping staff ratio, appropriate staffing for patient care needs, covering call-offs and vacation time.
Ensures chart checks are completed, seclusion/restraint log is up to date and nursing assessments are completed, as well as MAR’s and report sheets are kept accurate and up to date.
Rounds are completed at the beginning of shift and perform random audits.
Assists nursing leaders to make sure all staff are oriented and competent to perform required duties. May include coaching staff.
Provides mentoring and training as needed.
Assists the nursing leadership team by ensuring facility compliance with professional, regulatory and governmental standards.
Ensures the effective delivery of competent, compassionate and safe care by monitoring and evaluating patient care processes and outcomes on the patient care units.
Coordinates all care rendered to patients, including physician orders and diagnostic information, and ensures consultations are ordered.
Documents medical, behavioral health information and nursing care.
Administers medications and maintains records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Assists in developing a plan of care with specific and measurable goals, objectives and interventions defining actions unique to each patient's needs. Assists in updating and revising the plan of care as goals/objectives are met or when the patient's condition changes.
Prioritizes tasks and delegates staff to ensure quality patient care.
Acts as leader on shift for all admissions and discharges, as well as informing physician of changes in the patient’s conditions. Adjusts staffing accordingly.
Utilizes administrator-on-call for situations that require additional attention.
Provides direct care as needed.
Performs other functions and tasks as assigned.
