About The Position

Ovation Communities is seeking a Nursing Home Food Service Manager who will manage the Food Services Department at the Jewish Home and Care Center (JHCC) Campus. This role involves the overall supervision of all staff in the preparation of attractive, nutritionally adequate meals served at proper temperatures according to State and Federal regulations and facility policy. The manager is responsible for recommending for purchase, care and sanitation of institutional food service equipment and work areas used for preparation, storage, and service. Additionally, the role ensures a gracious ambiance and customer satisfaction with meal service, and efficiently allocates department resources in relation to the budget.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience in the food service area.
  • Experience in planning, preparing and serving diets in a healthcare setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of professional, progressive kitchen leadership experience, preferably in Healthcare / Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Kosher food service operations, and High-volume institutional kitchens.

Nice To Haves

  • Further education in culinary courses approved by American Dietetic Association.
  • Associate degree in a field of culinary management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to FDA Food Code, State of Wisconsin Health Department regulations, City of Milwaukee Food Licensing Department Regulations, CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) dietary standards, and ServSafe food safety protocols.
  • Identify ways to accommodate residents’ choices, preferences, and customary routines in matters of eating.
  • Cooperate with other departments to identify and accommodate individual resident needs and preferences.
  • Assure that menus are planned, and food purchased, prepared and served in accordance with Kashrus standards.
  • Participate as an active member of the Food Committee.
  • Train staff in customer service.
  • Frequently interact with the residents to assure high level of resident satisfaction.
  • Plan menus with dietitian that meet the nutritional needs of residents in accord with recommended dietary allowance and State and Federal regulations.
  • Assure that food is prepared in accordance with recipes and daily production sheets from each menu cycle.
  • Distribute menus to residents and post in readily accessible places in the facility.
