About The Position

Virginia Peninsula Community College is seeking a Nursing Faculty member to provide instruction, support, assessment, and mentorship to students. The role emphasizes teaching in various settings including classrooms, distance learning, laboratories, and individual conferences, aiming to help students develop their interests and abilities to become better persons, workers, and citizens. Faculty are expected to contribute to the college's mission and community, design and assess curriculum, mentor students, participate in college governance, and stay current in their academic discipline and teaching trends. Full-time faculty are required to maintain 10 engagement hours per week for student availability outside of class meetings. Additional activities include committee work, student advising, and professional initiatives.

Requirements

• Provide instruction, support, assessment, and mentorship to students.
• Teach a minimum of 15 credit hours/20 contact hours of lecture and laboratory each semester.
• Teach classes at the Hampton or Historic Triangle campus and online classes, including day, evening, and weekend classes.
• Design, develop, and assess curriculum.
• Serve as a faculty mentor for students.
• Contribute to college governance and service.
• Collaborate in a diverse and collegial organizational culture.
• Remain current in the academic discipline and in trends in teaching.
• Maintain 10 hours per week of availability to work with students outside of class meetings.
• Participate in committee work, student and community activities, student advising, and professional activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
