About The Position

The Nursing Director serves as a department administrator, responsible for establishing and enforcing policies, procedures, standards, and objectives. This role involves directing and supervising staff and workflow, and holding budgetary or fiscal accountability. The Director is responsible 24 hours a day for the ongoing effective operation of the assigned Nursing department, exerting a leadership role that supports the hospital’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives, while focusing on patients, physicians, employees, volunteers, and the community as customers. The position entails ongoing accountability for the continuous assessment, improvement, coordination, and integration of department services and standards of care into the hospital’s primary function. Specific responsibilities include approving timekeeping, employee evaluation, meeting applicable regulatory standards, approving supply orders, and department strategic planning.
