About The Position

The Nursing Director – Obstetrics provides leadership and operational support to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and is responsible for nursing and designated patient care services across assigned areas. This position supports the assessment, planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice across multiple units. The Director assumes 24/7 accountability for assigned departments and ensures the delivery of high-quality, safe, and appropriate patient care. The role is also responsible for supporting clinical staff competency, effective resource utilization, regulatory compliance, and overall nursing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a Nurse Manager or Nursing Director.
  • Previous experience working in Women's Services required, including one or more of the following: Labor & Delivery (L&D), Mother/Baby, NICU.
  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license required in the state of practice/residence, as applicable.
  • AHA BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with high-acuity and/or complex cases preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model and advocate for the nursing profession.
  • Provide leadership and direction to nursing managers and clinical staff.
  • Support employee development, engagement, and performance.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Encourage professional growth and accountability throughout assigned departments.
  • Provide operational leadership for women's services, including Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, and/or NICU.
  • Support the management of high-acuity and complex maternal/child cases.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, clinical competency, and resources for women's services.
