About The Position

To direct, manage, and coordinate the operational activities of assigned departments or areas in the hospital and clinics. To ensure that processes and procedures in patient care are in compliance with UMMC and regulatory standards. To provide guidance and leadership in the delivery of optimum patient care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Four (4) years of progressive leadership experience
  • Valid RN license
  • Knowledge and understanding of clinical patient care standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and the coordination of people and resources.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement measures to maintain a stable work force.
  • Analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Must be able to implement quality improvement measure and facilitate clinical education.
  • Ability to build and sustain collaborative inter-professional relationships.

  • Master's degree
  • American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Certification in Nursing Administration or ACHE Certification

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates the daily patient care operations of assigned areas and ensures compliance with applicable regulatory statutes.
  • Collaborates in the establishment and implementation of short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness; recommends and implements measures to improve the delivery of optimum patient care.
  • Maintains an organizational structure and staffing to accomplish organizational goals and objectives; supervises employees to include scheduling, training, evaluation, and problem resolution.
  • Participates in the planning, preparation, and prioritizing of operating and capital budgets for areas of responsibility; monitors and investigates variances to improve the overall use of resources.
  • Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.
  • Ensures that transparency is an organizational value through the sharing of outcomes and results and the promotion of effective two-way communication between management and employees.
  • Leading change to improve nursing quality and patient experience.
  • Mentor nurse leaders to make evidence-based decisions, and how to improve the quality, throughput and productivity.
  • Represents assigned areas on appropriate committees.
  • Collaborates with medical staff and other interdisciplinary caregivers in planning and facilitating optimum patient care.
