About The Position

The Nurse Director will provide strategic, operational, clinical, and financial leadership for a highly specialized inpatient service line at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. This service line includes Intermediate Medical Cardiology (a 29-bed unit for patients with conditions like post-cath lab, myocardial infarction, and heart failure), a 12-bed Vascular Surgery care unit, and a small-sized float pool. The role offers an opportunity to help lead and shape cardiovascular care.

Requirements

Current registration/licensure in nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
MSN, DNP, PhD, or BSN with Master’s degree in a related field, required.
Five + years nursing experience required.
Current certification required; certification must be maintained while employed in this position.
Demonstrated clinical competence in nursing practice.
Possess analytical abilities necessary to organize, to supervise and to evaluate the work of others; to develop and to administer policies, procedures, budgets, and utilize current concepts of nursing practice.
Possess interpersonal skills sufficient to provide effective leadership to staff, and to interact with patients, visitors, physicians, other clinical disciplines and a variety of hospital departments.
Possess both management and leadership skills to be effective with multiple levels of staff.

Nice To Haves

3-5 years nursing management experience.
Cardiac experience preferred.
Previous leadership experience with demonstrated management ability is preferred.
Clinical experience will be evaluated on an individual basis by the hiring associate chief nurse.

Responsibilities

Lead and Develop High-Performing Teams, serving as a clinical leader which encompasses hiring and counseling, employee engagement, new hire unit orientation, mentoring and coaching, performance appraisals and feedback.
Ensure team focus on maintaining a caring, therapeutic, healing, patient- and family-centered care environment that is inclusive for a wide range of patients with a fair and just culture.
Design and adapt staffing to be responsive to dynamic care environment.
Responsible for the supervision of registered nurses, patient care associates, support personnel, and other team members as directed.
Advance Clinical Excellence by partnering closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary leaders to advance care and ensure a caring, healing and collaborative environment.
Create an environment that supports and celebrates the professional growth of nursing practice at all levels of experience.
