The Float Pool offers caregivers the opportunity to support diverse patient populations across multiple departments, including 4D Medical-Surgical/Telemetry, 5D Medical-Surgical/Orthopedics, the Emergency Department, and Behavioral Health (Adult Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, Mood Disorders, and the Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Unit). As a Nursing Department Assistant III, you will assist with patient activities of daily living, room maintenance, EKGs, blood glucose monitoring, specimen collection, vital signs, and other clinical support duties while gaining experience across a variety of specialty areas. This position is an excellent entry point into a nursing career, providing broad clinical exposure, valuable hands-on experience, and opportunities for professional growth within Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. with rotating weekend requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period
- Basic math skills and ability to read and write
Nice To Haves
- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) Certification
- Previous nursing assistant experience
Responsibilities
- Provide for patients’ daily living activities.
- Assist in direct patient care tasks with direction from a Registered Nurse (RN), such as EKGs, blood glucose monitoring, specimen collection, dressing changes, colostomy care and vital signs.
- Transport patients and complete errands.
- Maintain supplies, equipment function and a safe, clean environment.
- Organize patient care assignments and seek assistance for difficult assignments or problem solving.
- Document care provided in the patient’s record.
- Utilize the pain scale, ask patients about their pain and report information to an RN or LPN.
- Make hourly patient rounds, assure safety measures are in place and ensure that all bed alarms are activated during hourly rounds.
