About The Position

This position coordinates nursing activities and resources within a clinical specialty or department. Provides holistic, quality and cost-effective nursing care for patients/families and/or others for patient populations within a unit, service or other primary area of practice, with an awareness of the continuum of care. Apply the nursing process within the context of the organization's Framework for Professional Practice. Manage transitions across the continuum of care collaboratively, to assist patients or populations in achieving or maintaining an optimal level of health. Acts as professional role model and clinical expert. Delegate and supervise work appropriately.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Associate’s degree in nursing.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Red Cross obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Three years of nursing experience required.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate information in English.
  • Strong ability to apply the principles and practices of nursing.
  • Strong demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate patient care.
  • Strong Knowledge of high reliability.
  • Demonstrated strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Use communication skills to foster a healthy work environment and facilitate positive patient outcomes and experience.
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers.
  • Strong knowledge of and demonstrated skills in providing care for age specific populations.
  • Excellent ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
  • Self-directed in clinical responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage and organize multiple clinical priorities for self and the team.
  • Strong computer skills and use of industry applications/programs. Ability to learn new technology and programs as advancements and changes are implemented.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing is highly preferred.
  • Certification in area of specialty a plus.
  • Ability to speak another language in addition to English a plus.
  • Membership in a professional nursing organization is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors departmental compliance with regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Provides both direct and indirect patient care appropriate to patients served to achieve desired outcomes for the patient with consideration of age and cultural differences.
  • Assists management with operational activities of the department including development of nursing staff advancement based on contemporary safe evidence-based nursing practice.
  • Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care. Performs quality assurance studies and assists with implementation of quality assurance and/or improvement initiatives.
  • Serves as resource to staff and external contacts on issues related to patient care, patient flow and clinical standards, policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes efficient decision making and problem solving to ensure quality service and promote patient and employee satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with peers and interdisciplinary teams to achieve desired outcome for patients.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
