The Nursing Care Tech (NCT) Respiratory IMC role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including essential tasks such as bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation. This position requires accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes under RN supervision. The NCT is responsible for ensuring patient call lights are within reach and responding promptly, collecting specimens, and performing point-of-care testing. Additionally, the role includes maintaining nursing area stock, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties that require physical exertion. Nutritional support and skin integrity maintenance are also key responsibilities. Depending on unit requirements and RN direction, tasks may extend to removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic techniques, is mandatory. The NCT must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care needs and principles of growth and development.
