About The Position

The Nursing Assistant with Duke Cardiology of Raleigh functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care. The Nursing Assistant performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic runs smoothly.

Requirements

  • HS or GED graduation
  • Nursing Assistant – Certification

  • Previous ambulatory care and/or Cardiology experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties.
  • Assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
  • Ensure the clinic runs smoothly.
  • Handle medical records, answer and handle telephone calls, greet patients, schedule appointments, and handle correspondence.
  • Monitor and respond to medical assistant work-ques and in-basket pool.
  • Room patients, document vital signs, and health maintenance history.
  • Perform EKGs and cardiac monitor application and education with appropriate documentation.
  • Provide future testing instructions and perform POC testing for anticoagulation monitoring.
  • Stock and clean patient areas.
  • Maintain required training.
  • Transport patients via wheelchair to hospital admission or ER as directed.
  • Assist in imaging area or other areas when necessary.
  • Perform daily clinic preparation and pre-visit work.
  • Accept additional duties related to committees and/or clinic projects.
