The Nursing Attendant functions as an integral part of the patient care team by performing selected patient care treatments and tasks as delegated by licensed nurses. This role is accountable for their own actions in performing duties as assigned and for which they are trained. This includes recognition and understanding of the physical, cognitive, and psychosocial changes unique to the age/population group served on the unit. The position is full-time, working 72 hours biweekly, with 12-hour day shifts (6 am to 6 pm) and includes every third weekend. A shift and weekend differential is eligible. The unit, 2 East Surgical, is a 30-bed unit with a primary focus on surgical patients, including orthopedics, urology, and bariatric cases. An individualized orientation program with knowledgeable preceptors focuses on clinical skill development and enhancement of the professional role within the Med-Surg environment.
