The Nursing Assistant assists the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. This role involves measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and daily weights, as well as accurately documenting patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The Nursing Assistant performs purposeful rounding, participates in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes, and ensures patient call lights are always within reach and answered promptly. They are also responsible for collecting specimens, maintaining nursing area stock, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. Additional tasks may include assisting with nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, providing special patient supplies, and potentially removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans under RN direction. The role requires adherence to infection prevention policies and the ability to provide age-appropriate care.
